Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences and eight partner universities from all over Europe are working to-gether on the vision of a new type of university - the European University of Technology. The aim of the "Euro-pean University of Technology" alliance, EUt+ for short, is to be one of the first technology-orientated European universities to make a contribution to the further integration of Europe. The European research institute "Eu-ropean Culture and Technology Laboratory" (ECT Lab+) is embedded in this framework. Based on European values, its research focuses on the philosophical and socio-scientific reflection of technological developments. It accompanies and orients the process towards a European University of Technology from the perspective of the arts, humanities and social sciences.

Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences is looking for a temporary position at the earliest possible date until 31 December 2025 (an extension is being sought) for a Research assistant (with tasks in their own further qualification) in the field of ethics/philosophy of socio-ecological and digital transformation for the European Culture and Technology Lab - ECTLab+ (75 %) Reference number: 110/2024 W - W

Your tasks:

Scientific collaboration in working groups and research projects of the European Research Group "Eu-ropean Culture and Technology Laboratory (ECTLab+)" (https://ectlab.eu/)

Partial coordination of the European Research Group "European Culture and Technology Laboratory (ECTLab+)"

Development and conception of research projects and third-party funding applications in the re-search areas of the ECTLab+ and neighbouring areas as well as in the EUt+

Scientific collaboration in the implementation of the ECTLab+ research strategy and third-party fund-ing strategy, e.g. Ethical, epistemological and aesthetic questions of the "twin transformation" (socio-ecological and digital transformation)

o Normative/ethical questions of climate protection, climate change, climate adaptation

o Scientific-theoretical reflection on concepts of the Twin Transformation such as "Anthropo-cene", "sustainability", "planetary boundaries", "artificial intelligence", etc.

o Philosophical/humanities/social science reflection on technical developments

o The role of artistic, humanities and social science approaches to technology and technology development

o Social implications of technical developments

o Further development of theories in the philosophy of technology in areas such as ethics, aes-thetics, epistemology and social philosophy

Carrying out individual tasks in research projects

Preparation of project reports, final project reports and specialised publications

Your profile:

Completed academic degree in a relevant subject area (e.g. philosophy, technology assessment, art studies, media studies, sustainability studies, etc.)

 Very good knowledge and skills in academic work

 Good knowledge in at least one of the relevant subject areas such as technology assessment, sustain-ability, technology foresight, scenario methods, ethics, aesthetics, epistemology, media theory, philos-ophy of technology, philosophy of science

 Very good knowledge and skills in project management, time management and self-management

 Willingness to travel regularly to the European partner universities and to spend a longer period abroad (up to 6 months) with the project partners

 Openness towards the diversity of scientific and artistic approaches to the field of research

 Very good written and spoken English language skills and at least advanced German language skills (at least level B1)

 Of advantage is:

o Experience abroad o First publications o Very good knowledge of German o Experience in project acquisition and project management

 Confident handling of MS Office packages and willingness to familiarise yourself with technical sys-tems and platforms

 Ability for inter- and transdisciplinary cooperation and interest in learning and developing appropriate methods

 Independent, structured and careful way of working  Ability to work in a team  Gender and diversity competence is a prerequisite

The aim of participating in the research projects is to promote one's own academic qualification by acquiring skills and knowledge, particularly with regard to project management in the field of science and the com-mencement of a doctoral project or the acquisition of a doctorate.

Remuneration is based on pay group 13 of the collective agreement for employees of the State of Hesse (TV-H).

Severely disabled persons with equal qualifications are given preferential treatment.
