The First Annual Conference of the European Culture and Technology Lab+ took place on the 9th and 10th of December 2021 in Dublin, Ireland.
The conference centered around the concept of "Thinking Human First" and aimed to explore the relationship between technology and the (Neg) Anthropocene. The (Neg) Anthropocene refers to the era marked by significant human impact on the planet, leading to geological changes. The event sought to address the challenges posed by human activities and technological advancements, emphasizing the need to move beyond the current environmental crisis.
Experts from various fields such as Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, and Technology came together to discuss topics related to climate change, biodiversity, ethical and green AI, critical data studies, and more.
The call for papers encouraged submissions that investigated areas like the European Green Deal, responsible technological development, creative technology, and the ethics of care in relation to new technologies.
The conference provided a platform for researchers, scholars, and practitioners to engage in meaningful discussions and share insights on how technology can be harnessed to address environmental concerns and promote ethical and sustainable practices in the digital age.
