Just digital futures Seminar

The Just digital futures Seminar discussed digitalization's importance and drawbacks, including surveillance and algorithmic biases

The seminar was hosted by the University of Applied Sciences Darmstadt (h_da) and it focused on the importance of digitalization in today's data processing, storage, and transmission landscape, highlighting the drawbacks associated with digital applications, artifacts, and the internet.

Issues such as unwarranted surveillance of vulnerable groups, harassment of women and minorities, and biases in algorithms were discussed. The seminar featured four speakers presenting their research projects on creating a more just digital future.

The speakers included Mina Schütz and Jonas Pütz from the Research Center of Applied Computer Science at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences, Claudia Herling from the IGDN International Gender Design Network, and Moritz Hütten from the Faculty of Economics at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences. The discussions were moderated by Dr. Julia-Constance Dissel.
